Adding & Pointing your domain to Kepler Hosting.

Adding and pointing your domain to Kepler Hosting is EASY! With our automatic SSL generation, all you need to do is point your domains DNS to our load balancer IP address, and you are good to go.

Before you can add a domain, you will need to point your domain to the Kepler servers (you need to find and login to your domain registrar to change this). Please use the IP address for DNS when pointing your domain. Remember to point ALL your domains using A-Records in your DNS manager. Kontakt us if you need help with this!

Once you have pointed your domain, all you now need to do is to add your domain. In this case, we are using a subdomain and then hit “Add Domain” if you have successfully pointed your domain to our load balancer you will be able to add the domain.

If your domain is not fully propagated, then the automatic domain process will prompt you a message. Make sure to check that you have pointed to the correct Kepler IP address for your container.

Now the domain process is activated. You will see a blue bar at the top of your dashboard, showing you your domain’s progress. You can also see the status in your activity log. If your domain adding fails, this can be due to your domain not yet being fully propagated to the Kepler servers. Wait a few minutes and try again.

You can use a tool called “What’s my DNS” to check if your site is pointing to the correct IP address

Once your domain has successfully been added, you will see your Kepler “Hosting container domain” and the domain you have added. Make sure to change the primary domain to your own by clicking “Make Primary.”

Search & Replace + Clearing cache

Now that your domain is added you will need to do a few more things. If you have built a site with your Kepler Hosting container domain, then you will need to perform a Search & Replace, to begin with.

Navigate to the Tools tab and scroll down until you see the “Search & Replace” tool. Use this tool to change your domain in your database.

All you need to do is to add the domain you want to search for. And click the checkbox “Replace” and then enter the domain you would like to replace it with.

In this case: Search = normalsite.keplerhosting.cloud
And replace with = signup.staging.keplerhosting.cloud

Once this is done, you are all set! Remember that when you change your domain, you must always clear the cache.

All Kepler Hosting containers come with cache activated by default, and you can easily clear the cache from the cache tab!

We hope this tutorial helps you manage your site, point your domain and clear your cache. If you have any questions, please create a Kepler Hosting account for Free and contact our support using the chat!
